Having grown up in the 70's my awareness of history and culture was informed by a mixture of school, TV, books and comics along with influences from friends and family and the wider community. I spent a large part of my life I guess feeling lucky to be British, I mean, who didn't like the British, we had brought so much to the world, let alone, as the football chants always went, we've won two world wars and one world cup. I had no reason to question these thoughts, that is subtly discouraged when you are young.

Awakening is about the realisation that we need to strive to relearn and restructure our understanding of where we have come from, question more, open our minds to new ideas and truths, and build new perspectives. You can't change what has happened, but at the very least you should know it, understand it and do something to mitigate its effects in the present day.

History is written by the winners,
No matter if they are the sinners,
The people will cheer and applaud,
A past scrubbed clean of all fault.

If we all seeing, or are they deceiving,
If we ain’t all breathing then should we be bleeding.

Look in the mirror to long,
You’ll be blinded to all that is wrong,
Because Lies can be gilded and polished,
But Truth is founded on knowledge.

Are we all dreaming, when we should be screaming,
If we ain’t all breathing then we should be bleeding.

Steel is forged in the fires,
Wisdom is born in the light,
Fear Is fed in the darkness,
All the quicker with lies
And laws enacted as chains,
Must be broken again and again,
For the worth of your life is the sum,
Of all that you said and you done.

If you ain’t seeing, you must be deceiving,
If you think they are breathing then why they bleeding.

Jack Cade and the Everyday Sinners UK

Jack Cade plays a mix of Americana and Alt-Country usually as a solo performer but at times with The Everyday Sinners. His vocals are a rough and ready deep growl, delivered with simply crafted songs about love, loss and the bits in between.
